Switzerland’s largest art museum impresses with its light-filled extension by David Chipperfield and one of the country’s most important collections.

At the Kunsthaus Zürich, art fans and laypeople alike can immerse themselves in the world of the Old Masters, discover Swiss art such as Giacometti and Fischli/Weiss, or be inspired by Impressionist or contemporary art. Installations such as Pipilotti Rist’s immersive “Turicum Pixelwald,” video installations, temporary exhibitions, workshops, and guided tours make a visit an unforgettable experience.

In two buildings, the Moser Building and the extension by David Chipperfield (opened in 2021), the Kunsthaus presents the largest Munch collection outside Norway, as well as renowned artists such as Picasso, van Gogh, and Chagall, as well as prominent representatives of Expressionism. Distinctive works from the late 20th and 21st centuries, including those by Warhol, Rothko, and Beuys, round out the collection.
